CeramTec strengthens its plant fire brigade in Marktredwitz
With the investment in a new fire engine, CeramTec at its Marktredwitz site is not only further strengthening its own fire protection, but is also making an important contribution to the safety of the entire region. The company fire brigade is now even better equipped to actively support the volunteer fire departments of the city of Marktredwitz when needed.
The company fire brigade is firmly integrated into the municipal alert system and can relieve local emergency services during larger incidents. In the event of an emergency, it initially responds independently and—depending on the situation—works closely with the surrounding volunteer fire departments. The new fire engine significantly expands these operational capabilities.
“Our new vehicle complements the existing command vehicle and the special extinguishing trailer, making it possible to have fast, professional assistance available directly on site at any time,” says Martin Tröger, fire safety officer at CeramTec’s Marktredwitz site.“The new fire engine not only contributes to safety at the plant, but is also a valuable support for the volunteer fire department of the city of Marktredwitz,” Tröger continues. He is also a member of the Marktredwitz Volunteer Fire Department and a district fire chief in the Wunsiedel district.
Around 30 CeramTec employees are involved in the company fire brigade. Many of them are also members of volunteer fire departments in the region and are released from their work duties in the event of an emergency. This interaction between company-based and voluntary engagement strengthens the overall operational readiness of the fire services. The expanded equipment of the fire engine includes, among other things, six breathing apparatuses—more than usual—as well as special extinguishing agents for fires involving energy storage systems or electric vehicles. This ensures the unit is also prepared for new technological risks.
