The Ceramic Experts Open Their Doors for Little Inventors and Researchers Day

Little Discoverers Visit CeramTec

Eight kids from the Neckarsterne preschool in Esslingen got a look behind the scenes at CeramTec on November 13. As a part of Baden-Württemberg’s Little Inventors and Researchers Day, they experienced advanced ceramics right up close and personal.

Plochingen had a lot to offer the young scientists: They explored CeramTec’s training workshop and built a car with the help of trainees. They discovered unfamiliar machines and the many departments on the company grounds. They also got to see what happens behind the scenes at an industrial company. Of course, the little visitors also got to work with the high-tech material themselves: with the help of Jonas Glocker, Head of Technical Personnel R&D, they engraved a ceramic sign that they were able to take home with them afterwards as a souvenir.

The Little Inventors and Researchers Day in Baden-Württemberg is organized by the educational foundation element-i Bildungsstiftung. With the slogan “Promote kids – live by example – shape the future,” element-i is getting kids curious about science and technology. The foundation helps kids uncover their talents, discover new things and develop self-confidence. This year was the fifth annual Little Inventors and Researchers Day: More than 50 companies from the trade and technology sector, as well as educational institutions and museums, opened their doors for a total of 1,200 kids between the ages of four and seven.
