Piezoceramic In-Line sensors critical for life saving infusions

For most people infected by the Covid-19 virus, the disease has no major
impact on their health. Unfortunately, a significant proportion of patients need to be treated in hospitals and some of them even in the intensive care unit.

Along with other treatments, many require life-saving fluids via infusion pumps, such as saline, blood and other life supporting drugs. To ensure proper controlled supply of the fluids, CeramTec Piezo-ceramic In-Line sensors are used to detect air bubbles, and measure fluid pressure changes as well as fluid levels that control the efficiency of the process and protect the patient. The sensors also support other life-saving treatments such as hemodialysis. Many well-known manufacturers of infusion pumps are therefore sourcing these high-precision sensors manufactured in our ISO13485 certified factory based in Southampton, England.

The CeramTec range of medical In-Line sensors offer non-invasive detection of gas bubbles, pressure changes and fluid levels in soft flexible tubing as well as soft or hard body disposable sets and containers. In tubing leading into and out of the body it is vital that variables such as air content, pressure and levels are monitored.

The scope of supply ranges from tuned piezoceramic discs and plates for sensor manufacturers, to a fully functional packaged sensor. The sensors can either be selected from the CeramTec standard range, or can be customized to suit specific OEM needs. Our dedicated design team is well experienced to develop custom solutions for a wide range of applications that fully meet the customer’s requirements.
