Online tool for self-configuration of ceramic components

CeramTec relies on collaboration with digitalization experts and start-ups

External perspectives for internal progress: as part of innovation projects, CeramTec is collaborating with hy, Axel Springer's strategy and digitization consultancy, and selected start-ups. For the development of future-proof digital business models that focus on customer needs, the leading international manufacturer of technical ceramics is thus specifically relying on collaboration and impulses from experienced partners. The first project - an online tool for the self-configuration of products - will be launched shortly.

"Manufacturing companies operate in a market environment that is changing ever faster and becoming more complex. We have to deal constructively with the resulting dynamics in order to develop future-oriented offerings and services," explains Dr. Hadi Saleh, CEO of the CeramTec Group. "Cooperation with external partners, their input and expertise, will move us forward. We are confronted with perspectives from outside the industry that encourage us to rethink and support us in driving forward the digital transformation in our internal processes."

Products and offerings that bring added value to customers are the focus of CeramTec. Therefore, as the first project of the collaboration with hy and the two Berlin-based start-ups Clous and Aucta, a Self-Configuration Tool (SCT) was developed that completely digitizes the configuration process for two product groups of the high-performance ceramics manufacturer. Customers are guided through the self-configurator on the website in self-explanatory steps, which shortens the ordering process as well as delivery times.

For the practical and customer-oriented implementation, the start-up partners Clous and Aucta provide backend technologies that check CAD files uploaded by customers for their technical feasibility or display requested products as 3D visualizations in order to further develop them online together with the customers. These intelligent solutions ensure that the Self-Configuration Tool can handle even more complex customer requests efficiently and effectively.

The new online Self-Configuration Tool will be available on the CeramTec website soon.
